Keeping our patients and staff safe as we reopen

What measures are now in place at the surgery?

In order to keep our staff and patients safe when visiting the practice, we have introduced the following measures. These will ensure we can meet or exceed the required procedures for dentists in Wales.

  • We are spreading out appointments accordingly and staggering patient’s arrivals to ensure minimum social contact.
  • A maximum of 3 patients will be in the surgery at any one time. This will mean only those with appointments at that time can be in the surgery.
  • There will be longer times between appointments to allow for thorough sanitisation throughout the practice.
  • The PPE worn by staff at the practice is above the standard required for dental practices.
  • We have installed protective screens around the reception desk.
  • Sanitiser will be available on arrival at the practice.

What can I come into the surgery for?

We are currently needing to prioritise patients most in need of treatments. This might mean that, should you have a minor dental issue, such as minor pain at the site of a dental implant, you may be asked to wait a little while longer before you can have an appointment.

To see whether your issue is considered emergency, please check the Bupa website, by clicking here.

What to do before you arrive at the practice:

Before your appointment, you will be asked to fill in a health questionnaire. You will also be contacted just before your appointment to check there has been no change in your health since the forms were completed. This is so we can have as much information as possible about our patients, in order to keep everyone safe.

If you have any symptoms of Coronavirus, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment. We will be able to advise you on a case by case basis.

What to do when you arrive at the practice:

Please read the following requirements before coming in for your appointment so you know what to expect when you arrive:

  • The waiting room is not in use at the moment, so arriving on time is crucial to ensure we don’t have people waiting in the reception area.
  • Patients are asked to only bring in essential items with them into the practice and to avoid excess baggage.
  • Please bring your own facemask if possible.
  • There will be a small charge to cover the additional PPE required to protect yourself and our staff. For non-aerosol generating procedures (AGP), this will be £7 and for aerosol generating procedures, this will be £40. If you are unsure which might apply to you, please call on 01873 857400 and we will be able to advise you.
  • You will be asked to use contactless payment wherever possible instead of cash to reduce risk.
  • Please use the hand sanitiser available when you enter and leave the practice.
  • Your temperature will be taken with a non-contact thermometer.
  • You will be asked to use mouthwash before your treatment begins.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this time and we are more than happy to answer any questions you have about these measures. Call us on 01873 857400 to arrange an emergency appointment or find out more, or fill out our contact form, here.
